Pediatric Osteopathy - Treatment of Babies, Children and Adolescents

Babies, children and young people are also very welcome in our practice. If you are thinking about making an appointment with your child, but are not yet sure whether it could be something for your child, then we would like to give you a little insight into pediatric osteopathy.

The focus of osteopathic treatment of babies and children is usually on those small patients who neither have clear complaints nor are completely healthy. Children who perhaps cry more often than others, eat worse, are more fidgety, have difficulty falling asleep or sleeping through the night, or have more frequent colds. According to an American study, 80% of all children fall into this category. Sometimes these disorders grow out of them, but sometimes they don't. The causes of such disorders can be very different. The osteopath assumes that a lack of movement of the tissues (bones, muscles, fascia, etc.) is the cause of such complaints. "Movement is life" - the osteopath's goal is to restore the missing movement with his hands alone. The birth process is often largely responsible for the lack of movement. This is a great advantage for children for whom medication is not used or is only used in emergencies.

Sometimes an osteopath provides preventative treatment to prevent minor disorders from becoming serious illnesses.

Possible complaints of babies and children for which osteopathic treatment can be helpful and with which many young patients come to the practice:

  • torticollis
  • difficult birth
  • Kiss syndrome
  • crying children
  • drinking weakness with swallowing problems
  • foot deformities
  • hip problems
  • three-month colic
  • Head deformities (e.g. flat back of the head or displacement after birth)
  • Growing pains often reported as leg pain in children
  • abdominal pain of unknown origin
  • Headache
  • concentration problems
  • accompanying orthodontic treatment
  • uva

If you are not sure whether osteopathy is a treatment option for your child, we would be happy to clarify this over the phone.

How does a treatment work

Most of the time, the treatment is just boring for the little ones, but never painful. Therefore, distraction is the most important thing. Please bring toys, bottles, books, etc. to keep your child occupied. Don't worry about whether your child might scream or whine too much. We have experienced a lot. Every child is different and somehow it always works out.

mom and child

As a mother, please remember that your children need you. So take care of your own health too. After pregnancy and birth, you should treat your body to an osteopathic treatment to push all the organs back into the right place, align the pelvis and thus bring the body back into balance without the baby bump.

Check-Up

Even if your child has no real problems after birth, it is a good idea to have an osteopathic check-up. In some countries, such as France, it is common for newborns to receive their first osteopathic treatment in hospital.

Fast-acting

IIn most cases, 1-3 treatments are sufficient for babies to achieve a significant improvement in symptoms.

growth

Children often have pain in their legs as they grow. Here, too, osteopathy can help and relieve the pain.
